KT Halo Front Wing – Carbon High-Performance Surf Foil for Speed and Explosive Manoeuvrability
The KT Halo hits the magic 8 Aspect Ratio: a fast, surf- and freestyle-oriented front wing series built for predictable, instant rebound after landings or tip Breaches. It stays stable and confidence-inspiring at speed while offering smooth, reliable low-end and stall behaviour. Compared to the Nomad, the Halo sits at the opposite end of the surf, freestyle, tow and downwind spectrum – it gives up a bit of low-end lift in exchange for significantly more top-end speed, reduced drag and a looser, more surf-inspired feel through turns, whitewash and freestyle manoeuvres. Halo sizes run roughly 15 % larger than Nomad for a similar low-end comparison.
Feeling
Halo feels fast and stable right away, with a lively, responsive character that rewards committed riding. Much like your favourite quad-fin surfboard, it carries a slightly aggressive performance edge by design, yet still flows smoothly and effortlessly through turns. Touchdowns stay controlled, and the foil snaps back into flight with rapid, predictable ventilation recovery, keeping your rhythm intact and your confidence high.
Speed
Halo accelerates really fast, effortlessly, and holds speed with almost no rider input. It carries pace smoothly through turns and between sections, with a noticeably higher top end than comparable Nomad sizes. Stability at speed is central to its design – riders can push harder without the foil ever feeling nervous or unpredictable.
Design Philosophy
Halo is designed as a high-performance surf foil that still excels in real-world conditions. Its focus is on speed, glide and a lively, reactive feel rather than maximum low-speed lift. Compared to the Nomad, you trade a bit of low-end forgiveness for noticeably better top-end speed, more glide and a more dynamic response. Halo handles turbulent and aerated water with confidence, staying smooth and composed through foam. Smaller spans reduce grab in chop, keeping the foil clean, predictable and stable when pushing speed. While surf performance is the priority, Halo also shines in wing freestyle, powered riding and even wake applications.
Recommended Pairings
Halo pairs exceptionally well with Atom Surf tails for turning-focused setups. Pulse tails are the go-to when chasing maximum top-end speed and glide. Tail and shim tuning lets riders fine-tune the balance between lift and speed.
Shape & Outline
The Halo uses a compact, surf-inspired outline with a moderate span and refined tips to balance speed, control and manoeuvrability. Its skatey 8 Aspect Ratio planform keeps the foil feeling loose and free through turns while maintaining impressive stability at higher speeds. Reduced span across the range boosts stiffness and improves handling in turbulent or aerated water, helping the foil stay clean, predictable and responsive when pushed hard.
Construction Highlights
Geometry: Thinner, performance-oriented section with moderate camber – tuned for speed, efficiency and clean release. Aspect Ratio optimised to keep the span compact while allowing the foil to carry speed effortlessly through turns and shed air instantly after jumping, sliding or breaching. Refined tip geometry minimises ventilation and keeps the foil connected when carving hard or breaking the surface.
Performance: Designed to reward an active riding style. Accelerates quickly, stays incredibly stable at speed and remains predictable when driven into steeper sections or freestyle manoeuvres. Big boosts and tip Breaches recover cleanly, letting riders stay fully committed through turns, jumps and turbulent sections.
Efficiency: Favours speed and glide over pure low-speed lift. Reduced drag from the thinner section holds momentum effortlessly between sections and through turns – even more noticeable at higher speeds where Halo feels smoother, cleaner and far less draggy than lift-oriented surf foils.
Agility: KT's most manoeuvrable design – reacts instantly to rider input. Rolls from rail to rail like a snowboard and stays lively through tight arcs, whitewater and freestyle moves. The thinner section, subtle camber and performance-driven Aspect Ratio let the foil redirect without hesitation.
Construction: Carbon Performance Construction tuned for speed, glide and powerful rebound. A blend of select carbon fibres for maximum stiffness, aggressive landings and long-term durability. The layup prioritises torsional rigidity for precise control while keeping overall weight low.

Size Selection
550 cm² – A smaller, faster option built for high-speed winging, freestyle and surf in punchy, powerful conditions – quick acceleration, sharp control and a lively, reactive feel.
670 cm² – A tow and fast-condition-focused size that stays composed at very high speeds, maintaining control even through chop, wind and heavy turbulence. Stable, predictable and confidence-inspiring when the pace gets extreme.
800 cm² – A balanced performance size delivering a feel similar to the Nomad 700, but with noticeably more top-end speed and glide. Maintains familiar ease and predictability while adding extra efficiency and range.
950 cm² – Closest in feel to a Nomad 830; larger, more supportive platform with strong glide for winging, freestyle and crossover wake use. Smooth lift, excellent carry and a stable, versatile ride across disciplines.
