AXIS Frank Mako Downwind – Downwind SUP Foiling at its Best
The AXIS Frank Mako was developed on Maui in close collaboration with Francesco Maffei (Frank Foilboards). Inspired by the legendary Maliko runs, it was purpose-built to be one of the most user-friendly and at the same time highest-performing downwind SUP foilboards on the market.
Shape & Rocker
A newly developed rocker line delivers high speed, efficient glide through the water and buttery-smooth take-offs. The special rail shape provides plenty of primary stability, which allows a narrower width – a key factor for more displacement speed. On touchdowns, the board stays predictable and easy to control.
Stability Through Speed
The faster the board accelerates through the water, the sooner the foil engages – and the more it actively helps you keep your balance. The pronounced tail rocker prevents the board from catching on take-off and keeps it from tracking too stubbornly straight, a typical balance issue of many downwind boards.
Deck, Volume & Weight
The flat deck allows long, comfortable runs and offers plenty of room for your foot position. The volume is concentrated in the centre for perfect balance when paddling and on foil. Nose and tail are kept slim – this reduces swing weight and makes the board feel much shorter than it really is.
Materials & Construction
The carbon sandwich construction with high-density foam under the pad delivers maximum stiffness and direct power transfer – every movement reaches the foil without loss. The included board bag is well padded and features a two-way zipper, ventilation and storage pockets.
